Every layer of protection.

Explore how benefits, insurance, healthcare and savings may respond when illness, injury or death interrupts household finances. A practical learning tool—not a claim approval, insurance quote or personal financial advice.

Verified regulatory figures are dated, linked to their official sources and separated from assumptions. As at 3 November 2026. Cover, eligibility and benefits always depend on the applicable contract or statute.

Illustrative protection mix

Not a forecast or a standard South African household outcome. This diagram is conceptual, not calculated from entitlement data.

Important: different benefits may overlap, offset or not be payable at all. Use the simulator to test confirmed amounts rather than auto-awarding benefits.

Income scenario · user-entered cover

How much income survives?

A scenario calculator using your gross monthly income (before tax) and confirmed benefit amounts. The example R30,000.00 is for illustration until you enter your income. No state or insurance entitlement is assumed.

Gross income not entered · Age not entered

For context only; age does not automatically determine insurance eligibility or quotes.

Income replaced—Average across model
Payments modelled—Not a payout estimate
Uncovered income—Modelled shortfall

Modelling convention: payments are capped at income for the chart, allocated in the order COIDA → UIF → SASSA → group cover → individual IP. Actual offset rules, payment starts, tax, arrears and credits depend on each benefit. A 7-day waiting period is treated as 7/30 of the first month; 30/90/180 days as whole 30-day months. This approximation is for planning only. RAF compensation and lump sums are deliberately excluded.

Thirty-six month scenario

The financial journey

Explore four modelled life events. Lump sums are shown separately as assets received, not as recurring income; nothing is awarded automatically by RAF or an insurer.

Guided priorities

What should you review?

Five questions identify topics worth investigating. There is no automatic recommendation to buy an unavailable product or to replace an existing policy.

Premium budget planner · not a quote

What can you budget?

Insurer premiums are individually underwritten. The original model's invented age multipliers have been removed. Enter quotes or amounts you already pay to calculate your real budget.

Figures are entered by you—not market premium estimates. Policy premiums can change with age, underwriting, benefit design, smokers' rates, occupation, family structure and insurer pricing. Confirm actual written quotes.
